It is a straight-forward CAT B supplier selection, but the unit specs sit in an annexure most bidders miss—check the kilowatt rating and refrigerant type before you price. Eskom’s PROVISION OF REACTOR PRESSURE VESSEL (RPV) AUTOMATED ULTRASONIC (UT) INSPECTION SERVICES is the only specialised mechanical tender in the batch. You need ASNT Level III UT shear-wave certification, a radiography safety plan and a letter of intent from an approved SANAS lab. Closing 15 January 2026—if your COIDA letter is older than 30 days, renew it today; Eskom rejects on the spot.

Public Works issued two near-identical HVAC tenders—HVAC Systems and associated equipment: Area 1 and HVAC systems and associated equipment: Area 2—both closing 20 January 2026. The split is geographic: Area 1 covers Tshwane municipal buildings, Area 2 covers Ekurhuleni clinics. If you are chasing both, submit separate envelopes; GPW still scores hard copies, not online.

On the civil side, Mossel Bay Municipality has three concurrent packages: CLEANING OF MAJOR STORM WATER OUTLETS, CONSTRUCTION OF BARTELSFONTEIN TOILETS AND SEWER SYSTEM, and an unnamed PROVISION contract. All three close 16 January 2026. The storm-water tender is CIDB 5CE while the toilets project is CIDB 3CE—make sure your grading designation aligns or your bid goes to the “non-responsive” pile within the first 30 minutes of box opening.

Drakenstein Municipality’s The Management of Animal Pound Services and Ancillary Functions is the outlier: a 36-month term contract for kennel management, veterinary transport and euthanasia services. You need a valid SPCA licence and a municipal rate clearance. Closing 22 January 2026—technically the furthest horizon in today’s list, but the site inspection already happened; without the attendance register stamp your tender is non-admissible.

What the Market Is Saying

This cluster of tenders tells us two things. First, provincial departments are dumping Q4 spend before year-end close-out—notice the proliferation of “URGENT” flags and abbreviated site-briefing windows. Second, there is a clear shift toward framework-style term contracts (36 months) for maintenance services rather than once-off capex. If you are not yet on the CSD under the correct commodity codes for “HVAC maintenance” or “Term hygiene services,” update now; evaluators are using automated CSD extracts to shortlist.

Compliance thresholds are tightening: Transnet and Eskom now insist on BBBEE sworn affidavits even for sub-R1 m tenders, and the CSD summary report must be time-stamped within five days of closure. Lastly, CIDB best-practice scores are creeping into municipal work—Mossel Bay’s storm-water tender allocates 20 % of 100 points to contractor past-performance on the CIDB register, not just the standard 10 %.

1. CSD registration: Ensure your primary and secondary commodity codes match the tender scope—HVAC tenders under 505, civil works under 233. A dormant tax status will hard-block you; log in and check the traffic-light banner today.
