Scope: Disposal of scrap materials from City Power Johannesburg premises (offices, warehouses, project sites, fleet management, substations). Materials include: ferrous/non-ferrous metals, hazardous items, transformer oil, decommissioned assets, waste paper, furniture, office equipment, oil spillages, and miscellaneous electrical equipment (full list in Annexure C). Key deliverables: - Collect scrap as directed by Disposal Management Team. - Transport and weigh: Weigh truck empty and loaded; submit both weighbridge certificates to City Power. Weighing must occur within 20 km or at Service Provider’s site with a City Power representative present. - Sort ferrous metals into commodities/grades to maximise monetary return. - Clean oil spillages after scrap removal. - Provide bins for sorting and storage; keep area clean after each collection. - Clear and remove movable goods within 7 days (or as predetermined). - Dismantle disused lines and collect from re-conducting projects (non-ferrous metals only). - Handle waste paper recycling with on-site bins and sorting; invoice monthly by tonnage. - Return surplus/obsolete furniture to facility managers; dispose per material type after sorting. Special notes: - Transformer oil may not be sold unless approved by Transformer Workshop Manager and Oil Testing Laboratory Manager (must be <50 PPM). - Grease is classified as hazardous waste and must be included in hazardous waste contracts. - Non-ferrous metal disposals must use the current Framework Agreement for non-ferrous metal. - HIRA required prior to on-site work.
