This document specifies the environmental requirements for all contractors and suppliers working at Majuba Power Station.

• The requirements are in addition to national environmental legislation.
• The scope applies to all work areas under the direct control of Eskom Majuba Power Station.
• Key references include ISO 9001, ISO 14001:2015, the National Environmental Management Act, and various Eskom and Majuba-specific procedures and policies.
• Contractors must have a documented and implemented environmental management system (e.g., policy, procedures, aspects/impacts register).

Method statements are required as part of the environmental submission.

Quality management requirements include:

• No work may commence without an approved method statement.
• The contractor must conduct non-conformance, incident reporting, and investigations, including root cause and corrective actions.
• Required site records include an Aspect/Impacts register, incident register, complaints register, waste disposal register (if applicable), hazardous substances register with SDS, inspection records, non-conformance records, and applicable licenses.
• The Environmental Management System file must include an environmental policy, objectives and targets, roles and responsibilities, communication procedures, internal audits, emergency preparedness, monitoring and evaluation, non-conformance and corrective action processes, and management review.
• Additional procedures include hazardous spill work instructions, identification of environmental aspects, environmental communication, operational planning and control, monitoring and measurement analysis, and non-conformance corrective action.

Upon contract award and prior to commencement of work, the following documents must be submitted (if applicable):

• The Aspects/Impacts register or an environmental management plan.
• All method statements, addressing items as per the scope of work.
• Appointment letter of the contractor's Environmental Officer responsible for implementing environmental requirements.
• Proof of training (certificates) for personnel performing activities with significant environmental impact.
• Environmental Management System certificate (if certified) or an environmental management manual/procedures.
• List of all Hazardous Substances to be used with their Safety Data Sheets (SDS).

• Staffing: 2 semi‑skilled general workers (minimum 1 yr site experience, literate, physically fit, valid herbicide, brushcutter, chainsaw training; one must hold a Level 2 first‑aid certificate; one must have a valid Public Drivers Permit; at least two must hold a Code B licence and tractor‑operator experience). 1 Assistant Officer (Supervisor) – National Diploma in Nature Conservation or equivalent, valid Pest Control Operator (PCO) certificate, Code EC, ≥5 yr reserve‑management experience, GPS/map skills, OHS representative experience.
