The South African Broadcasting Corporation Limited (SABC)NW situated in Mafikeng Cnr Dr Albert Luthuli Drive and

James Moroka seeks to appoint a service provider for upgrade of Motsweding FM Studios.

The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) previously initiated a project for the full interior refurbishment and

acoustic upgrade of the SABC Mahikeng Broadcasting Studios (North-West). A primary contractor was appointed and

successfully completed approximately 90% of the planned refurbishment works.

However, due to unforeseen circumstances, the initial contractor was unable to finalize the remaining scope.

Consequently, this Request for Quotation (RFQ) is issued to appoint a capable and suitably qualified contractor to execute

the "Phase 2 Refurbishment" / Completion Works. The appointed contractor will be responsible for completing the final

10% of the project, ensuring the studios are brought to full operational readiness and meet the required broadcasting and

acoustic standards.

The current project entails the final fit-out, acoustic detailing, and aesthetic completion of various broadcasting spaces,

including the Main Studios , News Studios, Control Rooms.

Because the project is already 90% complete, the incoming contractor will be required to seamlessly interface with the

existing finished elements. Please note: Certain materials required for the completion of the works are already stored on-

site (as indicated in the attached BOQ). The contractor will need to take custody of these materials, supply any outstanding

materials listed in the BOQ, and provide the specialized labor and management required to finalize the installation.

4. Requirements and scope of services

The Scope of Works covers the final finishing trades, acoustic sealing, minor services, and general making-good of the

studio environments. The specific tasks include, but are not limited to:

4.1 Preliminaries & Site Management

• Full-time site supervision, project administration, and Health & Safety compliance (Act No. ).
• Coordination with and assistance to specialized SABC equipment and furniture installers as required.
• Protection of the existing 90% completed works during the execution of the final tasks.
• Final rubble removal, cleaning, and making the site good prior to occupation.

4.2 Acoustic Treatments & Paneling

• Installation and assembly of final acoustic wall panels.
• Supply and installation of acoustic base traps (24 x 400mm x 400mm x 1800mm).
• Application of specialized sound seals between acoustic boxes/partitions to maintain acoustic integrity.

4.3 Ceilings & HVAC Finishes

• Completion of Class A absorption suspended ceilings.
• Minor demolition/adjustments within the ceiling voids where necessary.
• Supply and installation of new flush-mounted HVAC inlets, return air grilles (white powder-coated, 600x600mm),

and duct extensions.

4.4 Floor Finishes

• Installation of carpeting (client-supplied carpets to be installed on 3mm rubber underlay as per the room schedules).
• Supply and installation of associated floor skirtings.

12. Conditions to be observed when tendering

• The corporation does not bid itself to accepts the lowest or any tender, nor shall it be responsible for or pay any expenses

the right to accept a separate tender or separate tenders for any one or more of the sections of a specification. The

1.5 Failure on the part of a tenderer to submit proof or documentation required in terms of this tender to claim points for

1.6 The organ of state reserves the right to require of a tenderer, either before a tender is adjudicated or at any time

2. Definitions
