Johannesburg Water (JW) is a water and sanitation entity, and during the maintenance

The scope of work entails the following activities, amongst others:

• Collection of stored asbestos pipe off-cuts and disposal of such waste at the registered

licensed landfill site.

• Submission of waste manifesto, weighbridge and safe disposal certificate to JW after

disposal of waste.

• Valid Hazardous Transport Certificate obtained from Gauteng Department of Environment.
• Submit a written asbestos management plan/method statement prior commencement with

work which explain how the work will be done, from collection point up until disposal.

• An employer must— (a) provide respiratory protective equipment and protective clothing

suitable for protection against regulated asbestos fibres to all persons who will be

collecting, disposing and may be exposed to asbestos during the process.

The asbestos waste disposal specialist must submit the following information with the

RFQ Form:

• The asbestos waste disposal specialist must be registered as Type 2 with department of

Labour & Employment.

• Copies of valid competent certificate for handling asbestos.

and/or disposal work that he/she has undertaken (letters should have the name of the

client, description of the project and/or scope of work done, contact details and must be

signed). Letters should be in their client’s company letterhead.

• Copy of CV of the Specialist must be submitted or Company Profile, specialist/waste

company should at least have a minimum of five (5) years working experience as asbestos

waste registered specialist/company.
