General requirements:

• Must be a registered consulting engineering firm providing independent technology-based intellectual services.
• Must not be listed on the Register of Tender Defaulters or National Treasury's Database of Restricted Suppliers.

Scope: Consulting engineering services for routine road maintenance of National Route 8, Sections 6 to 8 (km 8.18 to km 36.69).

Key activities:

• Road condition reporting and visual assessments (monthly) using TMH 9 and TRH 16 standards.
• Maintenance of road furniture: guardrails, traffic signs, fencing (e.g., stock-proof 60%, veldspan 25%, concrete palisade 5%), road markings, road studs, vegetation control.
• Slope management: monitoring, incident reporting (Levels I-IV), and mitigation for geotechnical assets (cuts/fills >5m, retaining walls, rockfall barriers).
• Drainage maintenance: earth/concrete drains, culverts, erosion protection (gabions).
• Pavement repairs: edge breaks, shoulder repairs, surface cracks, rumble strips.
• Removal of illegal advertising and debris.
• Routine inspections post-rain/seismic events, emergency inspections within 4–6 hours of incidents.
• Use of SANRAL's ITIS system for data capture and reporting.

Additional requirements:
