• Inspect roofs and ridges for rust, leakages, loose sheets, nails and paint condition; clean debris.
• Inspect gutters and pipe gutters for rust and leakages; clean debris; seal gutters near columns and joints.
• Inspect water collectors and downpipes for rust and leakages; clean debris; seal downpipe joints (300 mm by 300 mm) and flush downpipes with adjoining drains.
• Inspect channels and drains for blockages; check water flow with fire hose; remove blockages with hydraulic water blaster.

General:

• All material used must be SANS approved, A-grade first class.
• Work must be of a high standard.
• Regular inspections by Transnet Engineering Quality Assurance staff during construction.
• Report must be submitted after work, including before and after pictures.

A detailed program (project plan / Gantt chart) must be submitted with the tender, indicating main activities and periods up to handover. A detailed procedure for the inspection, cleaning and sealing of gutters, drains, channels, downpipes, roof sheets and ridges must also be submitted. The contractor is fully responsible for any damage caused to supplied equipment and Transnet Engineering's assets during installation and commissioning. A risk assessment must be conducted to identify anything that might hinder service requirements.

SHE inspections and risk assessments will be conducted during and after the project, reported to the project manager. Non-compliance may result in a stop certificate and removal from site until rectified. Employees working at height must have a medical fitness certificate and proof of competency training. The contractor and employees must adhere to Transnet Engineering security and safety procedures.

Tenders must be submitted in duplicate and will not be considered if full particulars of all relevant equipment and works are not submitted at tender stage.
