The limpopo department of sport, arts and culture is calling on established and emerging limpopo artists, sculptors and multidisciplinary artists to submit professional profiles and portfolios for consideration in the acquisition and commissioning of artworks for the limpopo provincial theatre. The call covers a wide range of visual art forms, including painting, sculpture, textile and beadwork, photography, printmaking, installations and public art, with an emphasis on works that reflect limpopo's cultural heritage and identity. Bidders must meet mandatory requirements and achieve a minimum functionality score of 70 out of 100 to be shortlisted or included in the approved artist pool. The most consequential consideration is that submission does not guarantee selection or commissioning; IT only places the artist in a pool for future procurement processes.

Non-compulsory briefing session: 29 October 2026 at 10:00 at the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture, 21 Biccard Street, Olympic Towers Building, Polokwane, 0699.
Mandatory requirements (Phase 1) – non-submission leads to disqualification: portfolio with clear photographs of completed works (minimum five examples recommended), brief descriptions of previous works, certified copy of ID, CV/profile/biography, artist statement, references/testimonials or evidence of completed commissions, and a letter from a Traditional Authority and/or municipal bill not older than 12 months to prove Limpopo locality.
Use the prescribed Artist Profile Submission Form; any other template will be disqualified.
Functionality (Phase 2) is scored out of 100 points: Artistic Quality & Technical Competence (25), Relevance to Limpopo Cultural Heritage (20), Artist Experience & Track Record (20), Originality & Artistic Identity (20), and Professional Capacity & Reliability (15). Minimum qualifying score is 70/100.
Sculptors and installation artists must additionally provide information on materials, typical size/range, experience with large-scale works, fabrication capability, previous public installations, approach to structural stability and durability, and clear photographs of completed sculptures or installations.
