The valve must be a Cla-Val or approved equivalent, hydraulically operated, diaphragm-actuated, with CDS7 altitude pilot, pressure relief override, adjustable speed control, and mechanical valve position indicator. It must operate entirely hydraulically with no external electrical power.
Main valve: globe-pattern, ductile iron body and cover with fusion-bonded epoxy coating suitable for potable water. PN16 flanged connections to EN 1092-2, stainless-steel internal trim, renewable resilient sealing components. Internal components serviceable without removing the valve from the pipeline.
Altitude level control: Cla-Val Stainless Steel CDS7 three-way diaphragm-actuated pilot or approved equivalent. The pilot must sense static hydrostatic head via a dedicated sensing line (minimum 3/4-inch nominal bore) and automatically close the valve at maximum reservoir level and reopen when level falls. No mechanical float or electrical level-control equipment.
Pressure relief override: independently adjustable, set at 9 bar. When upstream pressure exceeds the setting, the override opens the valve to provide emergency discharge towards the reservoir.
Speed control: adjustable hydraulic speed control to regulate opening/closing rates and minimise water hammer.
Position indicator: Cla-Val X101C-type mechanical visual position indicator or approved equivalent, mechanically connected to the valve stem.
Complete control assembly must include: CDS7 altitude pilot, pressure relief override pilot/control, opening/closing speed control, pilot supply strainer/restriction, pilot isolation valves, stainless-steel pilot tubing and fittings, reservoir sensing connection, mechanical position indicator, and all necessary hydraulic accessories.
Materials: body and cover ductile iron SABS 936 Grade 42 (BS 1563 Grade 420/12); disc guide 304 stainless steel; stem 316 stainless steel; stem nut 303 stainless steel; spring 302 stainless steel; sealing disc and diaphragm nitrile rubber (Buna-N); cover bearing gunmetal BS 1400 LG 2; seat stainless steel ASTM A743 CF-8; coating fusion-bonded epoxy minimum 250 microns.
Delivery: to the Municipal Depot in St Croix Street, Jeffreys Bay. Delivery must be on Mondays to Fridays between 07:30 and 15:00.
