- It is compulsory for bidders to attend the site brief and quote accordingly.
- The Contractor will also need to confirm the measurements onsite before construction.
2. The offered rates must be inclusive of material and labour.
Prospective tenderers must certify that they are in possession of a policy covering their liability to any
workman on site in terms of the Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases Act.
They must further certify that they are aware of the onus placed on them in terms of the Occupational
Health and Safety Act and amendments and that their employees have been versed in
the same.
The successful tenderer must abide by Umgeni Water’s Rules for Contractors on Site and sign the
relevant documents as acceptance.
A Works Programme must accompany the quotation. The Project Manager must be informed when
work is to commence on site. Any deviation from the specification and the Bill of Quantities must be
authorised by the Project Manager.
3. Health and Safety requirements after award
- A site appointment is to be made with the respective SHEQ Coordinator via the Project Manager,
prior to the Contractor carrying out any work on the respective site.
- Submission, review and approval of safety file needs to be done prior to undertaking any work
- A compulsory site induction session of approximately 0.5 hour will be necessary prior to any work
being undertaken.
- On induction, the Contractor must produce copies of identity documents of all staff that will be
working on site as well as a valid letter of good standing.
- The contractor will be required to complete a Work Permit. The Work Permit shall be
completed for each day of work.
- Access control arrangements shall be made prior to or at the time of signing all the documents.
All keys shall be signed for and returned daily. NB: Contact details (e.g. cell phone number must
be given to site management for emergency purposes).
- Failure to ensure that all site specific procedures relating to Safety, Security, Health and
Environment are not followed shall mean that the contractor is deemed negligent.
