1.1 Scope of Services
Necsa requires a suitably qualified and experienced training service provider to conduct
practical and on-the-job training for furnace operators at the Smelter Plant, Area 26. The
training shall use actual plant equipment and systems where operationally and safely
practicable and shall be aligned with Necsa-approved operating procedures, safety
requirements and applicable regulatory requirements.
1.2 Equipment and Systems
The training shall cover, as applicable, the 125 kg/100 kW Coreless Induction Furnace, two
4-ton induction furnaces and associated plant subsystems, including power supply, cooling
water systems, emergency cooling water system, off-gas system, refractory lining, charge
material preparation, casting system, ladle handling, sampling and de-slagging activities.
1.3 Practical Training Requirements

emergency response, environmental requirements, radiological safety requirements,
incident/near-miss reporting and emergency evacuation and communication procedures.
1.5 Maintenance Awareness and Troubleshooting
Operators shall be trained to identify abnormal equipment conditions, common furnace
operational problems, potential coil-related failures, refractory deterioration, cooling-water
leaks/failures, off-gas problems and abnormal electrical/instrumentation conditions. Training
shall cover appropriate first-line actions, safe isolation and escalation of faults to

maintenance personnel. Maintenance work outside the operator's authorised role shall not
be performed.
1.6 Training Methodology
The service provider shall use a practical, competency-based methodology comprising
trainer demonstrations, supervised hands-on practice, on-the-job coaching,
normal/abnormal operating exercises, emergency exercises where safe and practicable,
troubleshooting exercises and individual competency assessments. The service provider
shall submit a detailed training plan and schedule for Necsa approval before training starts.
1.7 Deliverables
The service provider shall provide:

qualifications and experience (See attached evaluation criteria below)
1.9 Training Duration and Schedule
The bidder shall propose the overall training duration, number and duration of sessions,
balance between theory, demonstration and practical training, sequence of activities,
number of operators per session, equipment/systems covered, competency assessment
activities and proposed completion date. The schedule shall be subject to Necsa review and
approval.
1.10 2.10 Reference Document
The bidder shall use the attached Necsa Scope of Work for Practical/On-the-Job Training,
Document No. NLM-URT-26/001, Rev. 00, as the detailed technical basis for the services.
In the event of any ambiguity or omission, the bidder shall raise the matter in writing with
the Necsa contact person before submitting the quotation.

practical and on-the-job training for furnace operators at the Smelter Plant, Area 26. The
training shall use actual plant equipment and systems where operationally and safely
practicable and shall be aligned with Necsa-approved operating procedures, safety
requirements and applicable regulatory requirements.
1.2 Equipment and Systems
The training shall cover, as applicable, the 125 kg/100 kW Coreless Induction Furnace, two
4-ton induction furnaces and associated plant subsystems, including power supply, cooling
water systems, emergency cooling water system, off-gas system, refractory lining, charge
material preparation, casting system, ladle handling, sampling and de-slagging activities.
