The eastern cape department of agriculture is inviting expressions of interest from suitably qualified service providers to become grain development partners in the commercialisation of black small-scale grain value chains. The department will select entities for its partnership database to collaborate with black farmers on initiatives covering dryland and irrigated field crops such as maize, soybean, sunflower, sorghum, dry bean, canola and wheat. The most consequential requirement is that the grain development partner must have at least 60% black ownership, with preference for military veterans, youth, women and disabled persons, and must demonstrate a minimum investment of r1 million per year.
