• Bidders must demonstrate specialisation in corrosion prevention, cathodic protection and metallurgical engineering, with specific expertise in the design, supply, delivery, installation and commissioning of ICCP systems for reinforced concrete structures.

Scope: Supply, deliver, install, and expand the manufacturing and installation specification of the design document for Impressed Current Cathodic Protection (ICCP) systems for corrosion protection of pre- or post-tensioned and steel reinforced concrete civil structures.

• Location: Unit 1 and Unit 2 Containment Buildings, Koeberg Nuclear Power Station, Western Cape.
• Background: The post-tensioned containment buildings have been exposed to a highly aggressive marine environment, causing chloride-induced corrosion as the primary degradation mechanism.
• The scope includes further development and expansion of manufacturing and installation specifications in accordance with existing design documentation and the applicable Technical Requirements Specification (TRS).
• Bidders must demonstrate capability to provide the full scope, including design, supply, delivery, installation and commissioning.

The response sheet requires bidders to describe their proposed solution and approach, including:

• Brief description of previous experience and the solution offered.
• Capability to perform in-house design of ICCP systems.
• Capability to provide training on ICCP system maintenance.
• Experience in installation of ICCP (particularly mesh anode system with overlay mortar) on complex existing structures with height greater than 40 m and in site conditions with prevailing medium to strong winds.
• Typical/average installation durations for ICCP systems on complex existing structures.

Bidders must demonstrate relevant technical expertise, proven experience and capability to provide the scope. The response sheet requests:

• Company registration number and contact details.
• Previous experience in design and installation of ICCP on reinforced and post-tensioned concrete structures.
• Number of previous projects for installing and maintaining ICCP systems on civil structures and their value.
• Civil structures where the ICCP system was installed (e.g., bridges, cooling towers).
