Network details: South Africa’s rail network covers 30,400 km of track (20,953 route km), with the B-Network covering ~9,098 km of short/feeder lines. Characteristics: Multi-use potential, low volumes, distinct train configurations (wagon loads), small-scale operations (diesel traction), low axle load capacity infrastructure, multiple origin-destination points. Objectives: Right-size the network by closing low-density lines, co-fund non-strategic non-core lines, support disposal decisions, concession strategic non-core lines. Respondents must provide comprehensive feedback on potential PSP projects, including commodity traffic, perceived constraints, and proposals for logistics improvements. Responses will inform TRIM’s PSP project designs and market interest assessments. No trade secrets should be disclosed. Submission must use Annexure C (Response Form).
