Contract Works Insurance must cover the full value of the Works, with a limit for exposed layer works on runways and taxiways of 2,500 meters aggregate length at any one time.
Deductibles apply: R150,000 (increased to R250,000 for testing and commissioning) for Contract Works, R75,000 per claim for Public Liability and Removal of Lateral Support, and R25,000 per occurrence for SASRIA theft.
The Contractor must immediately notify the Employer and the Employer's Insurance Brokers by telephone, mobile phone, or email of any claim or potential claim, and must complete the Claim Advice Form (Appendix A).
The Contractor must not include any premium charges for the Employer-effected insurance in its pricing, except for supplementary insurance it deems necessary.

The Contractor must notify insurers immediately of occurrences, preserve damage, complete Claims Advice Forms, and cooperate with insurers. The Contractor must effect and maintain insurances for Construction Plant and Equipment, Employer's Liability (minimum R20,000,000), Motor Vehicle Liability (minimum R5,000,000), and excess Public Liability and Professional Indemnity as specified. Sub-Contractors must maintain similar insurances. If the Contractor fails to insure, the Employer may effect insurance and recover premiums from the Contractor.
