Supply and delivery of five fishing-gear temperature and depth instruments rated to 1000 m, together with five deck units that download sensor data and relay IT to a land-based station, for the national research foundation's saeon egagasini node in cape town. The instruments must be rugged enough to survive commercial fishing activity on nets and doors, and the deck units must be securable to fishing vessels. IT is a once-off supply with NO compulsory briefing session, decided on an 80/20 split of price against specific goals, so the fully inclusive priced offer on sbd 3.1 And a valid b-bbee certificate or sworn affidavit are what carry the bid.
Submission — Bids close 13 October 2026 at 11:00 and must be emailed as PDF only to [email protected], quoting RFQ/SAEON/EGAGASINI/FISHING GEAR/165/2026; late bids are rejected and the offer must remain valid for 60 days from closure.
Briefing — No compulsory briefing session or site visit applies; bidders may instead direct bidding-procedure queries to [email protected] and technical queries to Dr Tammy Morris at [email protected].
Scope and delivery — Five 1000 m-rated temperature and depth instruments rugged enough to be fitted to commercial fishing gear, plus five vessel-mounted deck units for downloading data after each profile, delivered once off to the NRF-SAEON Egagasini Node, 5th floor, Foretrust Building, Martin Hammerschlag Way, Foreshore, Cape Town, 8001.
Returnable documents — A signed SBD 1 with SBD 4 and SBD 6.1, company resolution or other proof of authority to sign, CSD registration proof, a specification-compliance response, and pricing on SBD 3.1 or company letterhead; any mandatory document not adequately supplied disqualifies the bid.
Evaluation — The 80/20 system applies, with 80 points for price and 20 for specific goals out of 100; bidders must meet the minimum specification threshold before reaching price/preference scoring, and the lowest qualifying price earns maximum price points.
B-BBEE evidence — A valid B-BBEE certificate or sworn affidavit (EMEs and QSEs) is required to earn any specific-goals points; those points are 8 for Level 1–3, 6 for Level 4–6, 2 for Level 7–8, 4 for EME or QSE, 3 each for at least 51% black-owned and 51% black female-owned, and 1 each for 51% black youth-owned and 51% owned by people with disabilities.

The SAEON requires a service provider for the once-off supply and delivery of five fishing-gear temperature and depth instruments and five deck units. The instruments, rated to 1000 m, are fitted to fishing gear (nets and doors) on commercial vessels to profile the water column during fishing, collecting temperature and depth data in areas research instruments and cruises cannot always reach. Each vessel's deck unit downloads the sensor data after each profile and relays it to the land-based station.
