the biggest Radio Station across the country and Lotus has achieved great strides with their numbers growing
steadily, according to the statistics.it is for this reason that the regional office plays an important role in delivering
uninterrupted broadcasting to the listeners as part of the SABC mandate. The SABC KZN office currently does not
have a contract for the preventative maintenance of all air-conditioners in the building.
There is a total of 49 air-conditioners which require preventative maintenance, some are allocated in areas where
there is critical broadcasting equipment. most of the air-conditioners serve as a backup cooling system in the
Studios and Newsroom when the main air conditioner breaks down. The air conditioners in the outside
broadcasting vans also need to be serviced periodically and forms part of this scope.
2 requirements and scope of services
2.1 Scope of work: Annual Major Service
Preventative maintenance by cleaning of evaporator filters, condensers etc.
Checking of refrigerant charge.
Checking of electrical connections
Washing of indoor and outdoor coils to remove grime.
Inspection of piping, cables, insulation, and ducting and replace where necessary.
Check all V-belts drives and replace, or tension as required
Gas top-up
Thermostat
Fix Capacitors, Motors, wiring or contactors.
Apply rust proofing where required
Cleaning of condenser section and coil
Cleaning of filters (monthly) – SABC inhouse.
Lubrication
Wire brush rust spots and paint with protective coatings,
Check and record liquid and suction pressures
Clean out drip tray and clear the drain line to prevent leaks from the unit.
Check all ducting leaks
Submit a completed job card for work performed on each unit.
Submit a detailed report with the condition of each unit and recommendations for necessary repairs.

9.2 Adjudication using a point system

9.3 Objective Criteria
➢ The Corporation does not bind itself to accept the lowest or any tender, nor shall it be responsible
for or pay The SABC reserves the right not to award this tender to any bidder based on the proven
poor record of accomplishment of the bidder in previous projects within the SABC.
➢ The SABC will not award contract/s to the bidders who are blacklisted or have committed other
acts of fraud and misrepresentation of facts e.g., tax compliance, company financials, etc. will be
eliminated from the bid process.
➢ The SABC reserve the right not to award this tender to any bidder who fails the financial stability

➢ No SABC former employees shall be awarded contracts with the SABC within 12 months after

1.1 A trust, consortium or joint venture will qualify for points for their B-BBEE status level as a legal entity,
provided that the entity submits their B-BBEE status level certificate.
1.2 A trust, consortium or joint venture will qualify for points for their B-BBEE status level as an unincorporated
entity, provided that the entity submits their consolidated B-BBEE scorecard as if they were a group
structure and that such a consolidated B-BBEE scorecard is prepared for every separate tender.
2 sub-contracting
