Necsa requires a suitably qualified and experienced training provider to deliver practical and on-the-job training for the operators of the coreless induction furnace and its supporting plant at the smelter plant in area 26. The training covers the 125 kg/100 kw coreless induction furnace and 2 × 4-ton induction furnaces, from pre-operational checks, start-up, refractory sintering, melting, tapping and casting through to cooling water, off-gas, refractory condition monitoring, safety, emergency response and basic troubleshooting, with every operator individually assessed for competence. The provider must supply trainers with extensive induction furnace operating experience, submit a training plan, schedule and trainer cvs for necsa's approval before work begins, and deliver competency portfolios, certificates and a final training report. Selection rests on provider and trainer suitability — NO preference points formula, minimum qualifying score, csd registration, tax clearance, b-bbee level or CIDB grading is set for this RFQ.
Closing: 13 November 2026 at 08:00 for RFQ NLM-EXT-26/025, delivered at the Necsa Smelter Plant, Area 26.
Trainer competence: trainers must have extensive hands-on coreless induction furnace operating experience and a proven record of practical, on-the-job operator training, plus knowledge of metallurgy and furnace chemistry, furnace electrical systems and controls, instrumentation and process monitoring, induction furnace mechanical systems, maintenance and troubleshooting, refractory and lining condition monitoring, furnace safety and emergency response, and competency-based operator assessment.
Evidence before training starts: trainer CVs with proof of qualifications, experience and competence, a detailed training plan, methodology and schedule, and training materials where required — all submitted for Necsa review and approval.
Preferred credential: professional certifications and registration with recognised training authorities, including Merseta where applicable.
Delivery on site: training takes place at the Necsa Smelter Plant, Area 26, on the 125 kg/100 kW coreless induction furnace and 2 × 4-ton induction furnaces and their subsystems, and must follow Necsa's approved SOPs and its safety, environmental and radiological protection requirements.
Competence, not attendance: every operator is individually assessed against defined competency criteria; attendance alone does not complete the training, and gaps must be recorded with additional coaching or reassessment provided.
Deliverables: individual competency portfolios, approved attendance records, competency certificates stating the scope assessed, and a final training report covering results, gaps, observations and recommendations.
