Round log transport from hanglip to timbadola sawmill

• To source a service provider for roundlog transport service in the Entabeni plantation.

• The service provider will be delivering pine (sawlogs) using different modes of transport.

• The RFQ shall expire when the value is reached and it will not be extended.

• Service provider is required to have sufficient equipment that are configurated and

suitable to operate within the forestry industry. There will be no waiting period for the

carrier to source equipment, therefore the carrier is expected by the company (

SAFCOL) to have the equipment available immideately after rceiving the award letter

from Supply Chain Department.

• A rate Sheet is provided for as SCHEDULE 6, where the service provider is expected

to indicate in all the rate / km. ( Do not leave Blank spaces )

2.1 Modifications

2.2.2 All units must conform to normal Certificate of Fitness (COF) and licence

requirements.

2.2.3 Original equipment manufacturers:

• Accredited dealer principles in close proximity of operating area are

strongly recommended

2.2 Objectives of the required services

2.2.1 RFQ – entabeni

To find a service provider that will offer the timber transport deliveries to Safcol’s internal

client in the Entabeni area for a short period, the successful service provider will provide

the company with the below services:

• Type of operation : Timber Transport – All modes for a lead distance of up to 90 kms
• Type of transport:Shorthaul (SH),Direct-to-mill (DTM),Longhaul(LH) and

Handling(Loading)

• Location of the operation: North Region – Entabeni Plantation
• Volume requirements: pine (Sawlogs) – to be determined as quoted rates from the

Bidder

• Type of product: Pine
• Duration of the RFQ: Volume based

Assume:

Volume target agreed for Ngodwana is 2000m3 for a specific month

SH rate applicable 01-10km is R60/ m3

Volume delivered 1450.123 m3

Uptime achieved for ELB = 72.506%

SH R 60 x 0.72506 = 43.5036

Therefore the actual volume delivered for SH of 1450.123m3 will be paid at a rate of R54.38/m3

for Ngodwana Sawmill for the applicable month

• The Bidder shall receive the monthly order which stipulate the required volume to be delivered

at mill.

• The Bidder shall sign and acknowledge the order, the monthly order shall be used as base

to caluculate the uptime and the Bidder shall submit the daily committed number of trucks

and equipments assigned daily to transporting the Timber.
