Foskor requires the supply of a-plant converter internals for its richards bay operation, cast in good-quality meehanite suitable for continuous service at temperatures up to 650°c, supported by detailed technical data, iso 9000 quality evidence and a manufacturing and delivery schedule. Award follows a functionality evaluation that bidders must pass with at least 70 of 100 points before price is considered, after which price carries an 80-point weighting alongside b-bbee preference points. The hardest hurdle for an sme is the 20-point experience criterion, which requires more than 10 years of foundry experience and demonstrated casting of catalyst support grids, division plates, support columns or similar high-temperature process equipment. Bids close on 27 october 2026 at 12:00, and NO briefing or site visit is scheduled.
Closing and submission: 27 October 2026 at 12:00. Late bids are rejected. Deliver a sealed envelope to the bid box at reception, Foskor (Pty) Ltd, 21 John Ross Highway, Richards Bay, 3900, or email [email protected] in PDF of no more than 5 MB.
No briefing session: no compulsory or optional briefing or site visit is scheduled, so the bid must be prepared from the RFP documents alone.
Technical threshold: bidders must score at least 70 of 100 functionality points to reach price evaluation. The 20-point experience criterion requires more than 10 years of foundry experience, with priority for demonstrated casting of catalyst support grids, division plates, support columns or similar high-temperature process equipment, evidenced by a certificate of incorporation and a signed reference letter on the referring company's letterhead.
Scored evidence to attach: detailed technical data on chemical composition, mechanical properties, thermal expansion and high-temperature performance (30 points); ISO 9000 certification plus foundry QA and inspection procedures (20 points); manufacturing duration, delivery schedule and milestone control with specific timelines (20 points); warranty and after-sales support (10 points). Missing any of these scores zero for that item.
Registration and tax: CSD registration is required before submission, with a valid SARS tax compliance status PIN or printed TCS certificate; consortia, joint ventures and subcontractors must each submit their own. Bids from persons in the service of the state, or companies with such directors or members, are not considered.
Price and security: firm Rand prices, exclusive of VAT, weighted at 80 points; prices subject to confirmation are rejected, and any price alteration must be initialled by the bid signatory. The successful bidder must provide security by Deed of Suretyship from an approved South African bank, building society, insurance or guarantee corporation when called upon.
Validity and disqualification risks: bids must remain valid for 180 business days from the closing date. Clarification queries go to Harry Mthembu by 16 October 2026 at 12:00. Material deviation from Foskor's standard terms and conditions, failure to submit mandatory returnable documents, collusion, or submitting on the bidder's own forms may disqualify the bid.
