The samrc is gathering market information on commercially available high-performance ion chromatography (hpic) platforms and associated services for polysaccharide and polysaccharide-conjugate vaccine work — analytical development, characterisation, process development, stability studies, quality-control testing and data that may support regulatory submissions. Manufacturers, authorised distributors, service providers and system integrators are asked to complete a functional requirements matrix (appendix a) and a commercial response schedule (appendix b) covering indicative year 1, 3-year and 5-year total cost of ownership. Responses close on 10 november 2026 at 11:00 sast by email to [email protected]. The most consequential point is that this is a non-binding information request: responses are not scored as bids, NO preference points apply, and participation confers NO advantage in any future procurement.
Closing and submission: responses are due 10 November 2026 at 11:00 SAST by email to [email protected] (Supply Chain Management, SAMRC); no portal, physical address or copy count is specified.
Non-binding exercise: this is market and price analysis only — no contract, award or preference points, no minimum score or functionality threshold, and the respondent bears all response costs.
Appendix A (Functional Requirements Matrix): one completed matrix per proposed platform or materially different configuration, marking each requirement Supported (Yes/Partial/No/N/A) and Availability (Standard, Optional, Third Party, Customised, Planned, Not Available), with costs, limitations and dependencies noted.
Mandatory platform capabilities: continuous operation at approximately 5,000 psi, HPAE, PAD, high-pH eluent suitability, conductivity/electrochemical detection, detector and column temperature control, refrigerated autosampling, chromatography and data-acquisition software, monosaccharide composition, oligosaccharide profiling and degree of polymerisation, free-saccharide quantitation, glycoconjugate characterisation, trace impurity and complex vaccine-matrix analysis, electronic records with audit trails and role-based access, electronic signatures, data export/archival, GMP and ISO 17025 suitability evidence, and IQ/OQ/PQ qualification.
Preferred capabilities: approximately 6,000 psi operation, RFIC, dual-channel operation, analytical/microbore/capillary configurations, automated eluent generation and suppression/regeneration, leak detection, sialic acid analysis, method development/validation/transfer support, IC-MS, HRMS and MS/MS compatibility, LIMS integration and a modular upgradeable architecture.
Appendix B (Commercial Response Schedule): indicative pricing split between mandatory and optional items, showing once-off cost, annual recurring cost, 3-year and 5-year TCO and total estimated cost, with currency, price validity, VAT treatment, shipping, insurance, duties, escalation, mandatory maintenance and subscriptions, and consumables assumptions stated; prices are not a quotation.
Provider information: Part A requires legal name, platform proposed, capacity (manufacturer, authorised distributor, service provider, system integrator or other), country of registration, company registration number, South African presence and contact details, with manufacturer authorisation evidence and local supply, support and maintenance arrangements where applicable; Part B must be signed by an authorised representative. No compulsory briefing or site visit, CSD registration, tax compliance status, B-BBEE level, CIDB grading, professional-body registration, bid security or performance guarantee is required.
